University Faculty Development Council
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The University Faculty Development Council (UFDC) helps members of the BYU faculty flourish in all areas of faculty responsibility, advance the Mission of Brigham Young University, and fulfill the Aims of a BYU Education.
The UFDC is primarily a deliberative body. Its primary function is to support deans and department leaders in furthering faculty development. It facilitates communication among colleges and between college and university leaders, as well as the sharing of best practices among colleges. As needed, the UFDC conducts research into what fosters or impedes faculty development. On the basis of that research, the UFDC may develop recommendations and tools for possible implementation and refinement at the college level. Additionally, the UFDC responds to requests for information and input from university administrators.
