The AAVP-Research and Graduate Studies has responsibility for all aspects of research on campus from the graduate student experience to the allocation of funds that support the general research effort at BYU. Dr. Howell has oversight of ORCA and its attendant responsibilities for grants and contracts, regulatory compliance, and our animal facilities. The MRI and Electron Microscopy facilities also report to this office. Dr. Howell interfaces with Risk Management to ensure safety in both teaching and research endeavors. Resource allocations for capital equipment, academic space, and renovation/capital improvement projects (CNA, ITI, ITS, and ITD) are coordinated by Dr. Howell. Intellectual Property Services (Technology Transfer, Creative Works, and Copyright Licensing) is an integral part of our effort as research moves between the academic and commercial realms.
